We celebrate the life of Stirling Moss who passed away today.
We celebrate the life of Stirling Moss who passed away today.
He personified motorsport to at least two generations of his countrymen after establishing himself as the greatest racing driver of his era.
Moss also enjoyed Historic Sporting Trials.
Below you can see a picture taken by James Page of Sir Stirling at Shelsley Walsh in 2013 when we ran a historic sporting trial as part of one of their classic weekends.
When Sir Stirling stopped trialing he sold his personal Cannon trials car to his god son Andrew Blenkinsop and this was the first time he was reunited with his old car. Unfortunately Andrew has passed away but his son still owns the car.
Martyn Halliday (standing beside him) said:
"It was a real privilege to talk to Sir Stirling. What a driver! Can you imagine averaging 99+ mph for a 1000 mile of public road in the Mille Miglia?"
“Motion is tranquility.”
RIP Stirling Moss
